As I was working on character design for my Fingertips series, I have been making photocopies of the originals to add color to so I can experiment, but I have pretty much only taken advantage of that capability with these characters. They don't have names and it's hard to describe them without going into the details of my worldbuilding and the main driving problem of the story, but the simple version is that they're supposed to be jarring and visually loud - like an alien, disco-esque dance party - which has been both challenging and fun. I made a couple versions with colored pencils, then colored the image in Photoshop, and finally used layers to select and mix elements from each option and create new iteration. Recently, I figured out how to make a .gif in Adobe and have now made this strobing compilation of altered versions of the digitally rendered version (including an inverted one), which is absolutely obnoxious - and therefore a perfect representation of these characters, so it makes me happy. (The post title is the name of a They Might Be Giants song that contributed to their development.)
