Christmas seems to be a time that especially lends itself to retrospection, and, in recent years, I have found it to be a reminder of all the things I have lost. In an effort to counteract this melancholy attitude, I decided to re-visit something my sister and I did as kids; take on the role of a Christmas elf. When we were in high school, this tradition of crafting and gifting was organized into the Fushia Snowflake Elven Corporation, a relatively minor operation in scope, but it came with its own business cards and rules for gift-bombing. The original logo was a clip-art snowflake that we "painted" pink, but I set out to redesign the logo when I had the idea to revisit the FSEC. It was evident that the logo ought to remain a fushia snowflake (I even looked up the official CYMK color code), but I quickly lit on the idea of trying to incorporate the initials into the design to make it unique. It feels a bit like cheating that the letters "E" and "C" are more or less contained in the "F" and "S", but I think the relative simplicity of the resultant design is better than trying to add them in elsewhere.
