Ant Creature

Another of my chimeras, primarily modeled off of an ant. This is the third one who has some sort of exoskeleton (previously those inspired by a scorpion and turtle respectively), though this one was easier to deal with because I was not working in an x-ray format. Nevertheless, this creature has very intentionally been given layers of the bodily system in the bones of the neck and collar and the cardiovascular network. Once again, this drawing started as just a sketch and stayed there for several years before I decided to develop it into a digital illustration. I had a lot of fun working with layers and opacities with the wings, eyes, and abdomen. The environment is rather rudimentary, but I'm still getting used to these sorts of things, and it was hard to deal with the presence of grass both in the foreground and background.
